I agree with you reflection on group work. I remember my first course with Dr. Bo I was so confused on how the blog played into the group project. I think possibly including a video on what the blog is, how to create it, and how it would all come together may be beneficial. Our group also lost a member in the beginning of the course, which can be frustrating for sure!
ReplyDeleteFor the implementation portion, the background music was a bit loud, but I feel if turned down a little would have definitely added to the video nicely. The syllabus on the video was difficult to see and when i clicked for full screen it was blurry (could definitely be an issue on my end though!). We already have the syllabus from a previous assignment however, so if a person had a printed copy in front of them, it would have been relatively easy to follow along with the implementation.
Great work on your design of the syllabus and it sounds like you all created excellent guidelines on how you would implement your course.!
Hi Group 2
ReplyDeleteVery nicely done. I liked that how you illustrated the bullet points as you elaborated in dialogue. The coordination of the audio with the visual made everything cohesive and easy to follow (even when the music seemed to over power the voice).
You highlighted very nicely how to incorporate a variety of activities to engage all the senses to accommodate different learning styles. You mentioned audio (lecture), visual (videos) and kinesthetic (Simon Says game). I could mentally picture the game being played spoken in French...Simon Says touch your nose...great way to reinforce the language in a fun way! Your activities tied to theory, which is a strength of your video presentation.
You mentioned in the audio, but didn't display a picture in the video of a group member who found a matrix from Bo extremely useful in designing a music class. It made me wish you would have shared which one. Including the visual, in my opinion, would have added to the content. As you mentioned the matrix, I could have seen it and said: Awe, that one, yes, perhaps I will use it too.
The implementation video was a very nice overview of everything you included in the syllabus. But, I didn't see anywhere that you included an actual demonstration of one of the activities. I thought we were to show how to implement one of the activities from our syllabus.
Job well done, especially considering you started out losing a group member. The three of you were able to adapt and overcome which is a lesson itself. Kudos!
Hello
ReplyDeleteYour group did a really good job. You really explained the objective of the course. It was a little difficult to hear the video in the beginning but eventually got louder as the video went on.
I especially enjoyed the focus on using videos as an alternate way to teach the concepts. You also mentioned the different learning styles and that was great to hear. Especially Kolb's which is my favorite.
Lastly, your comments about the hands on experience is very important. Learning to feel comfortable with the tools and materials helps the student feel comfortable in a real world situation. I don't think educators use enough hands on sometimes so it is nice that you are tapping into all senses and allowing them to get exposure.
Great job on the reflection and implementation. I think you accumulated the whole course into a nice video about Bo's course. I felt that learning about the brain, learning cycles and emotions were critical and will play a part in my teaching in the future.
ReplyDeleteThe video of your implementation was easy to follow but also hard to see the font. But I think your verbal description made it easy to follow.
Hello!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your reflection video. I thought the PowerPoint like slides you created outlined your discussion well and your voice was clear and calm when reading through it so it was so easy to understand. I liked your suggestions at the end of the video, particularly for students to read through the syllabus entirely first to help understand the course. I think it's especially helpful in this course and especially nice that Professor Bo Chang does give a thorough outline of the course and includes all due dates for assignments. I think reading through the syllabus can help the projects sort of fit together and help students see how the projects build on each other.
I'm sorry to say I had a hard time focusing on the course implementation video. While it seems like you did all of the requirements for the video, the volume of the music for me was extremely distracting. I think I understand what you were trying to achieve, but I would suggest either turning the music was down or eliminating it if that's not possible. I also had a tough time seeing the syllabus through the first one-third or so of the video. It appeared blurry. It seemed to get clear though by the second half.
I appreciate all of the work your group put in, and great job working through the loss of a group member. Of course that would create instability and more work for you all. Thanks for sharing what you learned!
